Two years ago, ACMAP lost one of its co-founders and the world lost a great scientist, Dr. Agnes Rimando. She was a medicinal chemist at the USDA ARS Natural Products Utilization Research Unit in Oxford, Mississippi. Dr. Agnes M. Rimando was among the first to isolate pterostilbene from blueberries and the first to study the antioxidant and chemopreventive activity of this natural resveratrol analog in a cancer model. Many of us considered her a dear friend and we miss her. She had a great sense of humor and a brilliant mind.
In memory of Dr. Agnes Rimando, a chapter titled “Pterostilbene as a Potent Chemopreventive Agent in Cancer” was authored by ACMAP President Dr. Anait S. Levenson and published in the book “Natural Products for Cancer Chemoprevention”. If you would like to request a copy of the chapter please contact Dr. Levenson or click here to order.
